[edit]German Wikipedia says that he joined the Nazi party only in 1933 but English version says that he was involved in the Nazi putsch of 1923. This combination is possible but improbable. Andries 16:38, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit]In William Shirer's "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" there is no reference that Buehler has participated in the 1923 putsch. Actually he is only mentioned once (section about the "Final Solution"). The book gives a comprehensive account of the putsch, and if Bühler had participated in it, Shirer would surely have written about it.
There is absolutely no reason why the neutrality of this page should be disputed. Please make your case. freestylefrappe 22:12, May 11, 2005 (UTC)
- I had given the article a factual accuracy warning (not a neutrality warning) because there is a contradiction between German Wikipedia and English Wikipedia. German Wikipedia says he joined the Nazi party in 1933. English Wikipedia says he joined the Nazi party in 1922. German Wikipedia is generally accurate on these subjects. Andries 22:24, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
- I personally believe that the English Wikipedia is right. Andries 07:39, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
- At http://www.olokaustos.org/bionazi/leaders/buhler.htm, he is listed as joining NSDAP on 10 April 1933, being given the number 1663751. That sounds like a well researched statement, and if the membership number is correct, it's far to high for 1923; otherwise 1933 could easily be a misprint for 1922. Cnyborg 12:28, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I beleive the 1922 date is accurate. The Jewish Virtual Library: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/biography/B%FChler.html also states his membership date as 1922. In a less compelling case, the book Fatherland by Robert Harris describes him as an "alter Kampfer" being involved in the Munich Putsch. Though that book is fiction, the historical characters are represented accurately. Djtodd 23:44, 6 Jan 2006 (EST)
- Schirer was not in Germany in 1922, and Harris is not an academically acceptable source (though the book is compelling). Surely, official historical records should be the determining factors? Anthony.bradbury 22:50, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Incidentally, I am not certain that I agree that the historical figures are accurately represented. Globocnik probably is, but Artur Nebe, who is shown as a dedicated Nazi, was closely involved in the July 1944 bomb plot. Anthony.bradbury 22:50, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps the implication of that is that Nebe would have remained loyal to the regime if the course of the war had been more favourable. A lot of the people involved in the 20 July 1944 plot were previously loyalists who considered the plot necessary because of the war situation. 212.113.23.124 13:00, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
In addition to that, Nebe does show independence of thought during the novel, as he gives March some licence to find more information in an attempt to incriminate Reinhard Heydrich.Jmorrison230582 10:26, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
final solution
[edit]If we include something on that in the article, we should at least cite, what he head to say on this in Nuremberg:"Because of the special problems of the Government General I had asked Heydrich for a personal interview and he received me. On that occasion, among many other things, I described in particular the catastrophic conditions which had resulted from the arbitrary bringing of Jews into the Government General. He replied that for this very reason he had invited the Governor General to the conference. The Reichsfuehrer SS, so he said, had received an order from the Fuehrer to round up all the Jews of Europe and to settle them in the Northeast of Europe, in Russia. I asked him whether this meant that the further arrival of Jews in the Government General would cease, and whether the hundreds of thousands of Jews who had been brought into the Government General without the permission of the Governor General would be moved out again. Heydrich promised me both these things. Heydrich said furthermore that the Fuehrer had given an order that Theresienstadt, a town in the Protectorate, would become a reservation in which old and sick Jews, and weak Jews who could not stand the strains of resettlement, were to be accommodated in the future. This information left me definitely convinced that the resettlement of the Jews, if not for the sake of the Jews, then for the sake of the reputation and prestige of the German people, would be carried out in a humane fashion. The removal of the Jews from the Government General was subsequently carried out exclusively by the Police." http://avalon.law.yale.edu/imt/04-23-46.asp --197.229.151.91 (talk) 14:22, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
