Primary topic dis-ambiguation with letter-number combinations

(This question was brought to my attention when I saw someone write that the V8 engine should be the primary meaning of V8.)

Any opinions on what to do if any letter-number combination has a primary meaning set according to the location of any Wikipedia article?? Georgia guy 00:54, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Primary topic disambiguation is common Wikipedia practise when one of the meanings of a title is much more commonly used (on Wikipedia, or elsewhere) than the others. Article titles are meant to give the searcher or linker what they probably meant. In the case of V8, for example, the engine is referred to much more often than the juice or anything else. If primary topic disambiguation is not used, someone will have to constantly clean up casual linking to the base term.

I would ask you, then, that if an article currently exists at a letter-number combination, to at least consider the fact that primary topic disambiguation might be better, and to possibly engage people on the talk page.

Also, if you decide the primary page should be a disambiguation, because there is no clearly dominant meaning, be aware that you are breaking many links if you move things. —Morven 18:43, May 1, 2005 (UTC)

Problem

When I edit the letter-number combinations list, when I check for useful dis-ambiguation pages I do so by finding its uses at Special:Allpages for article titles to add. Any other way to find new articles for dis-ambiguation pages besides this?? Georgia guy 22:25, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
