[edit]- He is considered to be at least partially responsible for the economic boom of the American Southwest as his invention meant that people were able to move into areas previously considered uninhabitable in the summer months.
Because:
- This is just a vague claim with no substantiation.
- It implies a racial bias because we all know now that the real inventor was Frederick McKinley Jones a black man, but like almost everything in the USA it was an invention claimed by a white man. Wat? Frederick McKinley Jones invented refrigeration you racist
- You can't be serious. Racial bias????? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.32.34.88 (talk) 16:19, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

History
[edit]In his time, Willis was the young engineer who ws called upon by the government to provide cooling to the White House when President Garfield was shot and had a bullet lodged inside mortally for weeks before he would pass away. At the same time, Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone, was also asked to tried to help find the bullet with an induction-balance electrical device which he had designed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.196.138.75 (talk • contribs) 03:10, 23 April 2006
Early life and education
[edit]Notice another thing in this article. The section that says 'early life and education' has almost nothing on Carrier himself, only his parents and ancestors. This really needs cleanup. TrekkieSpeller (talk) 17:11, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

I agree.
in addition, from his mother's biography, it doesn't seem he was jewish (as written above), was he or was he not?? (yishay121 5/2015)
I would say the whole article says little about Carrier the man. It seems to say more about Carrier the corporation. In its present form, it could quite easily be merged with the article on Carrier Corporation, as it actually adds some facts about Carrier Corp. that are not in the Carrier Corp article (e.g. financial difficulties and merger after the Wall Street Crash).
