Hey, what's wrong with the link I put up? --66.131.7.78 19:12, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't contain anything new, is just copied text from other sites, appears to only exist to drive traffic to affiliate program sites. You might consider reading over wikipedia's guide to external links as well as the absinthe talk page discussing external links. -- Ari 19:40, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Larger version of Absinthe-glass.jpg?

[edit]

Do you have a larger version of Absinthe-glass.jpg? I'd like to nominate it for Quality Image on the Commons, but they require at least 1.92M pixels (say, 1600x1200 for image size). grendel|khan 22:46, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's the largest version of that photo I have. -- Ari 19:02, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS

[edit]

You might want to talk to Swatjester about the content he removed from the absinthe article. OTRS is a system set up to field potential legal issues, particularly negative claims made about people or products, and it's kind of a touchy situation. Swatjester can probably give you a better explanation of what's needed, but until then you should probably revert yourself and leave the information out of the article for now. Kafziel Talk 20:10, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I noticed this, and I may revert it for now, however I dislike mass changes (especially on a misunderstood topic) without any comments whether by admin or IP, a brief comment wouldn't exactly be too hard to make (especially as I have a partial guess as to the reasons of the edit, and if I'm right a possible solution, but I will wait to hear what is said.) -- Ari 20:16, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, a note would have been good. Unfortunately, it's pretty common practice for OTRS responders just to put the ticket number as an edit summary. But I'm sure Swatjester will be willing to discuss the content (and the solution) if you let him know the details. Kafziel Talk 20:19, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey. I'm not sure of the exact rules for OTRS regarding what information about a ticket is allowed to be given out. However, suffice to say, the information was complained about, and as it was unsourced, it was removed anyway per WP:V. Negative information especially needs to be sourced. Two of the sources provided were links to non-reliable sources, so those were removed as well. I'll get back to you once I've clarified the situation a little bit more, however, for the moment it's irrelevant anyway since it was unsourced. SWATJester Denny Crane. 01:30, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I can source a number of claims there if the complaints can be given in detail (so I know what needs to be sourced). I also question that the used sources were unreliable. Currently the section is inaccurate and unfinished, which I think may relate to a misunderstanding ( for example "bohemian absinth" will always contain little to no anise, if it has enough anise to be a main flavor then it's absinthe.) -- Ari 01:53, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately I can't discuss the details of what prompted the ticket. I'm happy to work with you to ensure that any proposed changes you have comply with it though. We can work on it on my talk page, or on a user sub page. Please leave a message on my talk page letting me know. SWATJester Denny Crane. 21:24, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lucid (Absinthe)

[edit]

Hey there, I don't understand why you reverted the Lucid Absinthe article instead of just editing it. The Forbes article clearly states that Lucid cannot be solely called Absinthe and that there is not any Thujone in Lucid. If it was because I used the phrase "true absinthe", then please edit it if you can come up with a more neutral phrase, cheers. Tall Midget (talk) 21:21, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell no one except Lucid makers and the TTB know the amount of thujone in Lucid, the claims that it contains non are based on a misunderstanding of regulations. Most likely lucid contains a legal level of thujone. I am also unclear where you are getting most of your claims. Currently Lucid falls under the suggested definition of absinthe by the TTB and the definition of absinthe per the absinthe page. Unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation about the product (and absinthe in general) sometimes generated by competition and it's important none of the brand specific pages reflect these marketing attempts. -- Ari (talk) 23:30, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Absinthe article war

[edit]

Tentu and Oxl Rase have been conducting an edit war on the Absinthe article. It concerns, of all things, the issue of straight vs. curly quotation marks -- see the recent history and discussion on User talk: Wahrmund. They have made massive reverts and might be meat puppets. Since I know you watch this page, I thought I would ask you to reason with them, as an outside editor (as per Wikpedia:Resolving disputes). Let me know what you think. Morris K. (talk) 01:55, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, this trio of naughty children have returned to their usual haunts on Wikipedia (heavy metal bands
and TV shows), so nothing further need be done a this time. Morris K. (talk) 00:16, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Absinthe coloring discussion

[edit]

Hey. Dropping you a note to let you know that I do intend to come back to this. Real Life has intruded and takes priority over my hair-splitting on semantics. I'm not thrilled with the way the phrase was worded (or is still?, haven't been watching), but this is minor stuff. I've found nothing in Brevans or Duplais so far that changes my thinking; still looking through (interesting read), but again, I think I may be overly concerned with what constitutes "natural" as opposed to "artificial" coloring. Have a good one. - It doesn't stick. (talk) 16:51, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine. Artificially colored products may have not been top quality, but it was historical. Debrevans does mention artificially coloring absinthe with indigo blue, or chlorophyll. While neither produce the same taste as a traditional coloration step, they are both ways of coloring the liquor. There is also evidence at least a few companies colored their product with dangerous chemicals. -- Ari (talk) 18:16, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Obsello page

[edit]

Hello Ari. I am finding myself defending the Obsello page for some reason I cant explain. Care to help me out with a little information for a overzealous editor who does not know anything about absinthe or spirits. Take a look at the talk page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nightcafe1 (talkcontribs) 23:27, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
