American vs Puerto Rican

So Jennifer Lopez was born in New York but is very often referred as "Puerto Rican", while Ayanna was born in Puerto Rico but is, as reads in the article: Charlotte Ayanna (née Lopez; born September 25, 1976) is an American actress.
