Intro & Name
[edit]A user changed the beginning part of the Keshia Chante article from "keshia chante, born as keshia chante harper" to "keshia chante harper". Her full name is not her stage name. She is widely known and addressed as Keshia Chante, however was born with Harper as her true last name. In other articles, such as Beyonce and Rihanna make good use of this distinction. As of right now, I can't change it as it is semi-locked. I feel nothing should be locked until we have the discussion in the discussion section of the Keshia Chante article and come to a valid decision on how to proceed following wiki standards and what is best for the article.--Tyty06 (talk) 04:34, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
=Awards & Nominations
[edit]How do we turn the articles category of awards and nominations received by Chante into a chart like other singers on wikipedia? Not sure where to find the template of the chart or the format. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tyty06 (talk • contribs) 07:01, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Vandalism/Semi-Protected
[edit]Is there a way we can semi-protect this article so that only established users can change information? Over the last year there have been unnecessary deletions deemed vandalism and incorrect data added by unregistered users.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Tyty06 (talk • contribs)
Sorry, still dont know what to do. The vandalism and unexplained deletions wont stop. Id really like to make the semi protection of this article happen--Tyty06 (talk) 23:52, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Background
[edit]There has been significant vandalism involved in Chante's background information. I have inserted the necessary valuable references. Trinidadian, Puerto Rican, Portuguese are in fact Chante's background. Up for question is "afro-trinidadian" decent. --Tyty06 (talk) 20:33, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Chart's name
[edit]Is it better to state which countdowns her songs were on, like YTV's Hit List and MuchMusic's COuntdown, rather than just say YTV and MuchMusic? Yelly.telus.14 06:48, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Keshia Chante - Improper Comments and Information
[edit]This article contains improper comments and information that is inappropriate for an encyclopedia! There are also many spelling mistakes made like the one made about a video made for the "singel" (supposed to be single) Unpredictable. This also contains malicious information about Keshia Chante, such as perfoming certain acts and questioning her intents and integrity as an artist. Please take your hate elsewhere, for Wikipedia is a place of knowledge and interest . - Someone please edit this article! Renaissance Man - look it up 02:05, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Thank you!
[edit]Thank you for cleaning up this article and updating it to Wikipedia standards. Best of luck to Keshia Chante, and despite what I've heard, don't forget about Brampton, Ontario!
Repeated Blanking
[edit]Someone keeps blanking the image and certain other information on this article. If there is a problem with it, please explain why. Otherwise, it is considered vandalism as per Wikipedia policy. See quote below...
Blanking: Removing all or significant parts of articles (sometimes replacing the removed content with profanities) is a common vandal edit. However, significant content removals are usually not considered to be vandalism where the reason for the removal of the content is readily apparent by examination of the content itself, or where a non-frivolous explanation for the removal of apparently legitimate content is provided, linked to, or referenced in an edit summary. Due to the possibility of unexplained good-faith content removal, template:test1a or template:blank, as appropriate, should normally be used as initial warnings for ordinary content removals not involving any circumstances that would merit stronger warnings.
I have replaced the unexplained blanked content for now. I believe it should stay there unless an explanation can be given! djsik 19:58, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Date of birth
[edit]There is obvious confusion about the subject's date of birth. Per Wikipedia policy, if we aren't sure what it is we shouldn't have a date listed in the article. Please use this section to work on improving the article and please do not re-add DOB information to the article until some consensus can be reached. Thank you. janejellyroll 19:07, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
We found valuable sources of reference for her current birthday listed on wikipedia. Anything else disputed is incorrect. --Tyty06 (talk) 20:34, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Sharing a birthday with Tupac
[edit]This is a trivial fact. Even if it belongs in the article, it has no place in the lead. Please discuss here before re-adding to the article. Thank you. janejellyroll 02:26, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. I have taken it out of the lead and created a 'Trivia' section for it to go under. WatchAndObserve 21:41, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:KCBEENGONECOV.jpg
[edit]Image:KCBEENGONECOV.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The lede
[edit]I've removed several claims from the lede which were not supported by sources: a relationship with a famous person, being a socialite, and being a beauty queen. You can see the history prior to my edits to see those claims, but if you check the links, they say no such things. Woogee (talk) 02:43, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Relationship with Stephen Harper cannot be found in article. It was a "suspected" thought in a news report, but it is not strong enough to remain in article, in which I agree.
Socialite, fashionista and beauty queen articles were in various reports on holtrenfrew.com and globeandmail.com when i checked, the articles could no longer be found as they are from 3 year old articles, however, they can still be found on chante's offical website and myspace page bio. www.keshiachante.com and myspace.com/keshiachante which are used as references from her bio. --FrossBitten (talk) 03:24, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- Myspace is not a valid external link, and you can't just link to a home page, you must link to the actual page which sources the claim. And there is not, and never has been, a source to the Fashionista claim, whatever that is. Woogee (talk) 03:26, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- I must admit I never heard of Keshia Chanté before now, but I clicked several of the refs on that page only to find out that they are absolutely inappropriate for WP - leading nowhere or to a commercial page or a blog. Considering this is BLP, any strong claim without proper reference may be removed immediately. Materialscientist (talk) 03:33, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Pronunciation
[edit]I tried correcting and tagging the pronunciation, but it's been repeatedly reverted to gibberish, so I deleted it. Anyone actually know how her name is pronounced? — kwami (talk) 06:54, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
