[edit]

In the talk page, someone has requested revert to an older version. If no objection, I will do so. Let me know. Christopher Mahan 00:20, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)

My reversion of Penny Arcade Forums was to the 29 Oct version before the slew of anon edits of the last few days. If there is a better non-vandal version to revert to, I have no objection. -- Infrogmation 06:01, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Mardi Gras

[edit]

hello, I didn't realise "Fat Tuesday" was actually used instead of Mardi Gras, sorry for removing it in my ignorance! I changed it as "greasy" does make more sense as a translation; "gras" can mean "fat" for a person, but it also means "fatty" or "greasy". It's often used as a translation too, and I've seen it referred to as the better translation, but can't remember where now. I'm putting it in as an alternative, anyway. Dear Infrogmation, I need to inform you about vandalism on the Keith Wigdor article

[edit]

Dear Infrogmation, The Keith Wigdor article was vandalized by the following users, (cur) (last) 04:25, 6 Nov 2004 217.43.85.205 (cur) (last) 23:51, 4 Nov 2004 217.42.128.113 and also by the user, "Bleedy". Scott image

[edit]

Hi. I put back the image at Dred Scott v. Sandford. We have two images of Dred Scott; the other one is already used in two articles. My thought is that using the one that had been there in the Dred Scott v. Sandford for variation is appropriate, rather than orphaning that image. If there is a reason why we should not use that image which I don't understand, please let me know. Thanks, -- Infrogmation 23:41, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)

The images appear to be the same, except that the latter is in color. AaronSw 02:03, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)
They are clearly based on the same original image. The color one is cropped to a smaller portion of the portrait. I see more detail in the b&w version. Again, I think having both availible is better than just one or the other. -- Infrogmation 06:12, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi, Isaw this image on Talk:Pedro II of Brazil and as it turn out to be the only image having a license, I would like to upload it to Wikimedia commons (or, better yet: you might wanna do this), but I still need more details about the book you scanned it from ... Interpretix (TALK) 18:39, 13 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I don't recall the title of the book I uploaded it from over 2 years ago (back before such info was commonly included on wikipedia), but I'm pretty sure I can relocate it and post that specific info soon. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 16:35, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Hm, I've relocated (and added info about) some of the other images I scanned back in '02, but so far not this one. When I come across it again I'll do a larger scan and put it on the Commons. -- Infrogmation 03:16, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Images and all that Jazz

[edit]

Greetings sir, I noticed you have began removing my images (en mass ?) due to the reasons stated by you. I suppose, then, that now would be the time where I should begin defending the un-copyrighted viability of them. My problem is that I am having difficulties retreiving the info (hardware-wise, no longer on a working machine, I'm using a newer one now). I could have began searching for these from scratch, but it just seems so tedius. I am listening to a wanderfullly performed (& recorded) 12th Istanbul Jazz Festival right now, if that gives me any credits (probably not). But anyway, I digress. I guess I want to start with The Production of Surplus Value, which as indicated in the image page is taken from 'Capital' in Lithographs (1934).Considering the date, and considering that to my knowledge it has never been copyrighted, would you still think there is a tangible risk of copyrights violations? Let me know if I can continue to ask your opinion in this manner or whether you would prefer I go through different channels. El_C

It's a bit late for the specific ones already deleted. Many had been listed on Wikipedia:Copyright problems for nearly a month, a few longer IIRC. It's a good idea to put any images you upload on your watchlist, as if there is a problem a notice is put on the image page before any action is taken. 1934 is not old enough to assure public domain, but if you have specific info from a print source that the image was not copyrighted you could explain that on the image page. It is your responsibility to make sure that any image you upload to Wikipedia does not violate copyright. Note that copyrighted images may be used in certain contexts under Wikipedia:Fair use. Please read up on Wikipedia:Copyrights to help avoid such problems in the future. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 16:35, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

If it's too late, it's too late. I suppose I could always attempt to resubmit these a 2nd time propperly. I just tend to really be a procrastinator (manana, manana) when it comes to tasks I find tedius. Well, sorry for wasting your time. Regards, El_C

Behavior of Wikipedians

[edit]

As a Wikipedian, even though I'm not logged in, I make primarily good edits; the only problem is my IP address changes a lot. Interestingly, I once remembered someone telling me that nicknames are easier to remember than IP addresses; does this make sense to you?? I've been thinking of a nickname to call me by, and Mintguy (someone who recently left Wikipedia) started calling me by the nickname Georgia Guy. That makes sense because it reveals my gender so that people will know what kind of pronoun to use to talk about me. Any comments?? 66.245.108.212 21:34, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

While logging in is optional, if you're going to be contributing articles and edits regularly, it is encouraged. Yes, certainly, a user name is easier for most people to recall than an ip#. Choose your user name; you can reveal or not reveal such info as your place, gender, or other personal info as you wish. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 21:40, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Confusion

[edit]

Hi and thanks for your message. Well, I have been studying Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for some time now, but I'm still reluctant to add one of those tags to the images I uploaded because I'm never sure which is the correct one. I've had a look at what other people do, but they seem to be adding all kinds of tags to, say, the photos they took themselves.

The image at Blackface is obviously a still from the movie. Would that be "fair use" then? I have no record of where I got it from, but it was certainly from the Internet.

I promise I will reform. Best wishes, <KF> 02:11, Nov 16, 2004 (UTC)

I think Fair use would be a reasonable assertion for that particular image. Best wishes, -- Infrogmation 16:56, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Georgia Guy IP's

[edit]

To make sure you know this, (this has been brought up a few times before), even though all of the my IP numbers (the Georgia Guy) are of the form 66.32.xxx.xxx or 66.245.xxx.xxx, the reverse is not true. An example is 66.32.251.218 that you recently made a User Talk page for. (Note that there have even been a few times when someone else had a User IP address that was later used by me. An example is (I don't remember exactly what the IP was) one who vandalized Jew several times in April 2004 was also used by me several months later. 66.245.98.219 00:51, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Cookiemobsta and CHSTV

[edit]

Hey, I'm a member of Carlsbad High School-I emailed the CHSTV teacher but I'd like to have the page up so he can see what would be posted and approve it. Is that possible?

If you can get permission to release the copyrighted text under GFDL, that would be fine -- be sure to have them look it over such licences as we could use; see Wikipedia:Copyrights for more details. If you'd like the page on this topic to be here on Wikipedia, I suggest you look over the Wikipedia:Manual of Style and make some modifications in line with that-- for example, don't say "we" in the article refering to the topic of the article, link to other appropriate articles, etc. Your previous version of the article still exists-- just look at the "page history" link, and you can see any of the earlier versions. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 19:24, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I edited the text-I used the old copyrighted text as an outline but all the text is my own. I fixed up style and now it's covered with cool links to other articles :) Is it alright now?

Wow, thanks for your fast attention to this! I made a few minor modifications. It's looking good. Best wishes, -- Infrogmation 19:32, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)

You mentioned that I have been vandleizing pages. AFAIK I have not. Complaints?

Two pages of nothing but junk vandalism, since speedy deleted, appeared to have been created by your ip#. Dear Infrogmation, I need your help and advisement, since you are an administrator

[edit]

Infrogmation, I need to ask you for your help and administrative expertise in addressing a problem over at the KEITH WIGDOR Article's Discussion page, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Keith_Wigdor The Keith Wigdor Article was already vandalized by the User:BLEEDY upon his/her first edit on that article (I can show you the evidence) and this User: BLEEDY is already trying to harrass the article subject, and making claims that they are in, "touch" with Keith Wigdor, which obviously is not the case. This User: Bleedy is intending to vandalize the article again, if you will read the discussion page.24.168.66.27 05:06, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Infrogmation, I notified you regarding vandalism by the User: Bleedy. The evidence is here, (cur) (last) 13:41, 30 Oct 2004 Bleedy As you will see in Line 3 of this users first edit to this article. Article Licensing

[edit]

I've "started" the Free the Rambot Articles Project which aims to get users to release all of their contributions to the U.S. state, county, and city articles under the CC-by-sa 1.0 and 2.0 license (at minimum) or into the public domain if they prefer. A secondary goal is to get those users to release ALL of their edits for ALL articles. I've personally chosen to multi-license all of the rambot and Ram-Man contributions under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike License so that other projects, such as WikiTravel, can use our articles. I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all your contributions (or at minimum those on the geographic articles) so that we can keep most of the articles available under the multi-license. Many users use the DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual template (or even MultiLicensePD for public domain) on their user page, but there are other templates for other options at Template messages/User namespace. If you only prefer using the GFDL, I understand, but I thought I'd at least ask, just in case, since the number of your edits is in the top 20 most. If you do want to do it, simply just copy and paste one of the above two templates into your user page and it will allow us to track those users who have done it. For example:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain (which many people do or don't like to do, see Wikipedia:Multi-licensing), you could replace DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual with MultiLicensePD -- Ram-Man 15:04, Nov 24, 2004 (UTC)

I'll multi-licence my state, city &c. articles. I've been active some on Wikitravel as well. I'm not sure about broader options, but I'll give that consideration. -- Infrogmation 16:07, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Great! If you could also add the appropriate template and message to your user page to allow us to track your multi-licensing, that would be helpful too. -- Ram-Man 16:42, Nov 27, 2004 (UTC)
Oh, and duh, it would also be nice if you specified WHICH licenses you are multi-licensing into! Legally speaking, we can't just assume for you, you have to state it yourself. -- Ram-Man 16:36, Dec 2, 2004 (UTC)
I've added it to my user page. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 17:28, 2 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Sutton Foster

[edit]

My double spacing between paragraphs was intentional. Without them, the first sub-heading appears in the middle of the page and the layout looks awkward.

I can understand if people edit an article to add or correct information, but I don't understand why anyone would take the time to remove spacing, especially when the result looks worse than the original did.

And why did you add her birthdate after her name when the same information is in the very next paragraph? I thought the idea was to eliminate redundancy, not create it. I have seen either format - birth and death dates following the name in the introductory sentence OR included within the body of the item - used equally, but adding both seems unnecessary to me. TOM 19:22, Nov 26, 2004 (UTC)

I know exactly where the link to American leads, and that's why I use it rather than United States. (The very first sentence is an ideal definition for my usage.) Would someone describe Bridget Bardot as a "France" (rather than "French") actress in normal conversation? Mais non . . . "A United States actress" sounds very clumsy to me.

As far as adhering to Wikipedia format, as I said I've seen dates used either way.

I am using screenshot exactly as I was advised by a Wikipedia administrator, but thank you for your concern . . . TOM 19:34, Nov 26, 2004 (UTC)

Replies on User talk:SFTVLGUY2. -- Infrogmation 19:41, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Can you explain why you believe using American is preferable to American when the former takes you to an entry about the country and the latter takes you directly to a definition of the term???? Also, I find it fascinating that nobody was ever interested in creating an entry for Sutton Foster, but now that I've taken the time to do the research and made the effort to enter the data, everybody wants to jump in and edit it. Maybe I'm the odd one here, but I'd rather create new entries than waste time editing those that don't require them. TOM 15:30, Nov 27, 2004 (UTC)
The common convention on biography articles is to provide a link from the nation where the person is from. Having other people edit what one writes is part of the nature of wikipedia. Let's all decide for ourselves if what we do with our time is a "waste" :-) Cheers, -- Infrogmation 15:59, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Winnemem Wintu

[edit]

Hi Infrogmation. I'm Quadell. An anonymous user asked me on my talk page what had happened to the article on Winnemem Wintu. I had never heard of the article, but I did a little digging. It looks like you deleted it on November 27, and I think that might have been a mistake. Here's why:

 • The site had been listed on WP:CP since Nov 15, but the page was never marked as such. No one viewing the page had a way of knowing the copyright status was contested.
 • Although it may have been a copyvio on Nov 15, the whole page had been rewritten by Nov 27, and the article was no longer a problem, so far as I can see.
 • The pages that linked to the article, such as the rd Winnemem wintu, were not changed.

Because of this, I'm going to undelete it. If you think this is a mistake for me to do so, please let me know. Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 00:23, Nov 28, 2004 (UTC)

Okay. From looking at the page history, it looks to me like the same ip# accused of the copyright violation had improperly removed the notice. If the article has been rewritten in a way to take care of the copyright violation, fine. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 00:36, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit]

First off I would like to commend to work you have been doing clearing out Wikipedia:Copyright problems. I can think of few tasks that more need doing, or that involve more drudgery. As someone with much experience in the area I am wondering what you think of allowing blatant copyvios to be speedy deleted, an idea I advanced on Wikipedia talk:Proposal to expand WP:CSD. - SimonP 17:57, Dec 5, 2004 (UTC)

Hm. There are potential pluses and minuses to that idea; I'll have to think about it. In the mean time, we could use more admins pitching in such janitorial aspects of adminship as cleaning up problem listings. Best wishes, -- Infrogmation 19:38, 5 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Dear Infrogamtion, I need to report further vandalism

[edit]

The user, Bleedy 23:31, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC) is attacking the discussion page over at the Keith Wigdor article, leaving statements that harrass the article subject, and also making false statements that they have been in touch with Wigdor. Plus a personal attack as well, in, "The Surrealist Moral Code".

What exactly falls under the category of Wikipedia:Vandalism of Bleedy's comments? I can clearly see some rudeness and POV problems related to the article and discussion. Is there vandalism under the definitions in the above link? Please be specific if so. Thanks, -- Infrogmation 05:47, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Help?

[edit]

I messed something up and really don't understand how. Jianhu was tagged for Speedy Deletion (noted that the article had been moved to Jiahu). I checked Jiahu and found no history except what appeared to be a copy/paste. To preserve the history, I first deleted the apparent copy/paste and then moved Jianhu to Jiahu. Now neither of them have any history. The content went "poof." Can you undo whatever I did and fill me in on where I went wrong? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. SWAdair | Talk 10:08, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I'm not sure why User:Confuzion marked Jiahu for deletion; perhaps they didn't know it had been moved. I reverted that delete notice. -- Infrogmation 10:17, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Odd. Now it has history. I was going to remove the delete tag myself, but I checked after the move and the only history it had was the delete tag. Everything seems fine now. Maybe it was a cache issue or the software taking a couple of minutes to bring everything up to date. Whew! Had me worried for a minute. Thank you for taking the time to look into it. Images querry, revisited

[edit]

Will you be deleting any and all images submitted by myself? Are you looking at any of these, or simply working through a list/scheduale? Just wandering as to the manner in which you operate on this front. El_C 21:51, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)

The ones I deleted were listed on Wikipedia:Copyright problems, and I let them go for a good while longer than the 1 week time to challenge or explain. If you havn't previously, you might wish to start putting images you upload on your watchlist and take a look at the Copyright problems page. Hope this helps, -- Infrogmation 22:04, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Yes, it helps. I haven't uploaded a picture in several months I believe. I have also been abstaining from all article contributions for several weeks now, and considering outright indefinite resignation. Was just wandering as the timing striked me as odd due to a few factors (which go beyond the scope of this). I am relieved to learn it was merely a coincedence.
Thanks once again for your time and the very prompt response. El_C

[edit]

You've been around Wikipedia a while, so I'm hoping you might have some suggestions with this. Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Gabriel Uzquiano has had speedy tags added a couple times, expressing concern that a prank is embarrassing the subject individual. I, and others, have removed the tags, which I guess is why I got the email that I have posted here (including my reply). This is normally something I would ask Angela about, as I've never stumped her yet, but she hasn't editted for at least a couple days, apparently because she is in NYC for a week. Any ideas? Policies or precedents you can point me to? etc. Thanks Niteowlneils 01:03, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)

My first thought to minimize the potential embarasment in the google ranking is to encourage those interested to write a good factual article about Gabriel Uzquiano on Wikipedia, so Wikipedia hits will direct there. -- Infrogmation 01:10, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Automatic change when moving pages

[edit]

Hi Infrogmation, thanks for the welcome. I just finished moving a page and I have a question. I moved 'Basic (dance move)' to 'Lindy Basic (dance move)'. This I thought would lead to many pages referring to the old name, but it seems like most of them changed automagically. Are there some automatic in changing the old pages/articles, when moving a given page? Holroy 04:17, 2004 Dec 14 (UTC)

Dear Infrogmation, I need your assistance in the edits made by user, "Bleedy" over at the Keith Wigdor article

[edit]

The user, "Bleedy" is making false statements in their edits in the Keith Wigdor article, by making claims that they have spoken with Keith Wigdor and writing that he is a webist in the article. This user keeps on harrassing the article subject, then states that they had, "lunch" and, "spoken" to him, which is false. The article keeps being changed by this user Bleedy with false information. Wigdor has never been involved in Webism, nor has he ever exhibited as a Webist. He has nothing to do with Webism. Please tell this User, Bleedy to stop.24.168.66.27 17:47, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Vandalism Report

Infrogmation, I need to report vandalism by the user, "Bleedy" on the Discussion page on the Keith Wigdor article. Here is the evidence, "Trash from around the world? Does anyone know anything about a Keith Wigdor exhibit called "Trash from around the world"? Shouldn't this also be included in the article? --Bleedy 20:15, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC) Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Keith_Wigdor"" Please prevent this user from vandalizing the article. Zulu

[edit]

you didn't agree with the wikify? The article needs some mark-up and sectioning.-Trick 21:29, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)

While the Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club could no doubt be improved with some sectioning and copyediting, it was neither lacking in wikilinks nor in an inappropriate format. I usually reserve the "wikify" template for articles either devoid of any wiki markup or having almost none of what is needed. Perhaps that's a personal call. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 21:37, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Infrog - I just re-read the glossary entry and retract my wikify call. I just love Zulu and was hoping to prompt an expansion of the article. - Trick 21:39, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)
and, btw, it is a really great article, as-is. thanks for that! - Trick 21:40, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Thanks. I guess you get to New Orleans for Carnival some time, or did you used to live here? It's just two and a half weeks until the start of the Carnival season! -- Infrogmation 21:45, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I lived in the Bywater for about 5 years (still have property there) and marched with St. Anne for all of those. I don't think I'll be getting to NO for carnival this year but probably next. - Trick 14:50, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Complaint Report on personal attacks

[edit]

Infrogmation, I need to report the user, Bleedy for constant attacks on the discussion page at the Keith Wigdor article, which Bleedy keeps reverting. Here is the evidence, "Are you sure you really aren't Francine Wigdor, Keith's mother? Do you have a first name, other than "24.168.66.27" and "63.169.104.2"??? --Bleedy 17:49, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)"

Dear Infrogmation, need your help to prevent an edit conflict

[edit]

The user, Bleedy, keeps on reverting the Keith Wigdor article today. I really want to avoid an edit conflict, that is why I reported this in good faith. Keith Wigdor is NOT a commercial digital artist. He is a surrealist as documented on his own webiste at ArtEnligne, which has his documented personal bio and history.24.168.66.27 01:41, 22 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I wouldn't welcome back user 80.227.56.42. He or she has been blocked under a large number of names today. He adopted the name of the wife of Jimmy Wales, co-founder and financial patron of Wikipedia, and wrote in many article that Christine Wales is a whore, and also logged in under the name of Jimmy & Christine Wales' daughter and wrote similar things. WP:PUI on WP:AN

[edit]

You ditched this section, I assume because it was stale? That's OK, but I didn't see it being archived? I put it in /Archive2, hope that's OK. Noel (talk) 17:44, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

PS: I don't usually check other User_talk: pages (so that I don't have to monitor a whole long list of User_Talk: pages - one for each person with whom I am having a "conversation"), so please leave any messages for me on my talk page (above); if you leave a message for me here I probably will not see it. I know not everyone uses this style (they would rather keep all the text of a thread in one place), but I simply can't monitor all the User_talk: pages I leave messages on. Thanks!

Yes, WP:PUI seems back in a managable state again, thanks. (Similar note left on your talk page.) Cheers, -- Infrogmation 18:46, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Great, thanks! Noel (talk) 19:58, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Please explain the reasons why you think it must belong to the "super"-category "America". Both "sub"categories, "North Am" and "Central Am" already belong to "Am". Normally superfluity in categorizing is frowned upon. Also, to prevent future "cleanups" by other editors I would suggest to add the explanation (if any) to the charter of the category:America. Thank you, Mikkalai 18:05, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, there seem to be varying opinions as to when/if both a category and parent category should be listed, and I've had people tell me both adding them and taking them out were wrong. I'd be fine with a policy either way. In the mean time, I didn't see any particular reason to remove "Central America". I didn't create the category in question, perhaps you can ask the user who did what the intention was. (It looks to me to be a listing of land masses called "America".) Thanks, -- Infrogmation 18:46, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Dear Infrogmation, I need to report to you the following abuse over at the Keith Wigdor Discussion Page by the User, Bleedy

[edit]

Infrogmation, this User, Bleedy is really out of control. I am really doing my best to compromise and work out an agreement but this last message that the User, Bleedy left on the discussion page is blatant harrassment and abuse. Again, Please read the message that this User, Bleedy left and remember that this User, Bleedy, was already given a warning (as was I) in good faith.24.168.66.27 17:45, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Dear Infrogmation, about your redirecting Domino records (UK Independent record label)

[edit]

Hi. Im glad that you have cleaned up the Domino records links but I would just like to ask something: Do you think that it would have to be moved back if a list of past and present artists was added to the page? There is a list on Domino's own website so I see no reason to do this, but if it was ever requested by another Wikipedian for the sake of compeleteness or as a home for the links to all the bands on the label (such as Archie Bronson Outfit and Movietone it may become necessary to add a list. What do you think? Hope to hear from you soon and good luck. Motown Junkie 23:12, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I don't see that adding a list of artists would be strictly "necessary", but I see no reason to object to adding it if anyone wishes to. Let's have any more discussion about the article at Talk:Domino Records. Thanks. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 21:51, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Infrogmation, Major Problem, the User, Bleedy is out of control!

[edit]

Infrogmation, This User Bleedy just stated on the discussion page on the Keith Wigdor article, that they have a picture of Keith Wigdor standing next to Terrance Lindall (who is a famous artist) which they will upload on to Wikipedia! This is a Photoshop manipulated picture that was altered with a picture of Keith Wigdor's face superimposed on top of a woman's body to MOCK and HUMILIATE Him and Terrance Lindall, who is the Curator and Producer of the Brave Destiny show. Keith Wigdor NEVER appeared in any photographs with Terrance Lindall and if Bleedy uploads this Harrassing Photoshop altered picture on to Wikipedia, then it is MAJOR VANDALISM, and I want to prevent it before this user,Bleedy does so. He already uploaded the picture on to many Indymedia Forums to Mock and Humiliate Wigdor and Lindall and this harrassment is crossing the line. PLEASE DO NOT LET HIM UPLOAD THAT PICTURE!!! If he does, you will obviously see the blantant abuse! Please stop this harrassment before it happens! There is NO Pictures of Keith Wigdor that were ever taken with Terrance Lindall. Nobody wants any legal problems over what this user Bleedy intends to do, God only knows!24.168.66.27 21:24, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

As far as I can see, all of User:Bleedy's edits have been confined to a single article and its talk page. IMO he has been rude, pushing POV, and gotten into an edit war (not the only one), but I have seen absolutely nothing yet to justify the label of "Major Problem, the User, Bleedy is out of control" with screaming capitals and multiple exclamation points. If "MAJOR VANDALISM" (as defined in Wikipedia:Vandalism) is committed, appropriate action can be taken. Until then, please calm down a bit. Thanks. -- Infrogmation 21:47, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Sorry, I've been busy elsewhere (RL intruding as usual). I received the following reply from Steve (actually a while back):

Phil --

I appreciate what you're trying to do, but I think they've gone
overboard.

The best bet for the Wikipedia bit is to start absolutely from
scratch then, using the information but none of the wording from any
of our other sites or publications, unless used as quotes.

The thing is that while the information is "just information" the
words -- even our words -- have sometimes been used, quoted or not,
in other publications, previously published. Me, I'm not going add
GNU licenses to the various other webpages and sites we've used these
things on and we can't unilaterally decouple from other previosuly
copyright articles that others have done; so the spirit of making
information freely available will choke it.

My suggestion is that you convene a group of Liaden universe
listmembers -- either on or off list -- to check or help with the
information/article you put together; let us check it, and then
submit. If you want suggestions from me on who might be good to
include in such a group, I'll give them.

Steve

Has he misunderstood the point of the GFDL: there would be no need to licence any other sites, would there?

The point is that all the other sites were constructed (some a very long time ago) from the same source material which I was given to use here. So can't we just stick a "with permission" notice on it and have done?

The really odd thing is that the article on Steve himself is in the same situation but no-one has noticed :-)

My brain is beginning to hurt and I'm questioning whether I did the right thing in the first place :-(
