[edit]This is a good article, but where are the references? - Ta bu shi da yu 05:25, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. It's mostly translated from de:Ernst Thälmann, which has 5 weblinks and one ref. All are in German, so I didn't think it worth putting them here. I've now added the (also German) link to his speeches though. Rd232 07:05, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Fantastic article I must say. Redwolf24 08:27, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
Unfortunately this article was a bit one-sided, leaving out the "social facism" strategy in the "political career" section (but not calls for anti-Nazi strikes). I included at least one sentence about that. Str1977 13:14, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
Added a source for his birth from the German language wiki. ClassJihad (talk) 18:14, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Saz1925.jpg
[edit]Image:Saz1925.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:55, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Entirely one sided
[edit]Tis article is entirely one-sided and should be rewritten in a neutral tone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.189.143.251 (talk) 15:23, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
Totally one sided article
[edit]This article is totally one sided. This article entirely accuses the KPD as responsible for the NAZI party's rise to power, when everybody knows that the SPD was the party which had greater influence in the working class and did nothing to oppose Hitler. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.140.8.143 (talk) 20:40, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Really? From ca. 1929-1933, Stalin's policy was that so-called "Social fascism" was the greatest menace. Of course, he completely changed his tune after 1933... AnonMoos (talk) 02:59, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
Shot
[edit]"Thälmann spent over eleven years in solitary confinement. In August 1944, he was transferred from Bautzen prison to Buchenwald concentration camp. There, on 18 August, perhaps on Hitler's orders, he was shot." Anything is possible. Churchill or FDR could have ordered he be shot too. They could have ordered commandos penetrate the concentration camp to knock Thalmann off. But there is no more evidence to suggest that than there is that Hitler order he be shot, or vice-versa.
Are encyclopedia's supposed to conjecture upon what might have happened. I think Hitler had more important things to worry about in 1944 than Fritz Thalmann.75.36.244.152 (talk) 04:31, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
- It's a little odd that down below it says "perhaps on Hitler's orders", while in the lead paragraph at top there's no "perhaps". Add a "fact" tag if you feel like it. AnonMoos (talk) 06:16, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
I added the source for the assumed date of death on the 18th of August and from where the claim originates. ClassJihad (talk) 18:15, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
Gestapo
[edit]The article says that Thälmann was arrested by the Gestapo in March 1933. But everything I've found states that the Gestapo wasn't formed until April 1933. So who arrested Thälmann? --Cckerberos (talk) 16:23, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation
[edit]I am proposing a disambiguation page be set up to host the seven pages which contain the name Ernst Thälmann in the title per WP:3DABS. The footnote will redirect users there instead of the Soviet Warship. AlessandroTiandelli333 (talk) 19:13, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
Timeline
[edit]The article states that the KPD competed with the SPD during the First World War. As the KPD wasn't founded until 30 December 1918 that's obviously garbage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7D:CE9:E200:C532:A6AE:C972:4EF2 (talk) 18:09, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
