CVG Infobox

[edit]

Yeah, I see your point about the media. Maybe it should be blank unless something more specific is included, such as the number of megabytes, or the number of discs for a multiple disc game. --Pagrashtak 16:04, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

re:ESRB Rating

[edit]

"Game has been created before the formation of the ESRB, or the ESRB has chosen not to rate the game for one or more factors." Since there are two cases here (pre-ESRB and ESRB choosing not to rate a game,) and the ESRB never officially chose not to rate games released before they existed, I feel that it would make sense to make a distinction between the two. Thank you for pointing that out though, and just so you know, if you decide to revert, I'll leave it since I see a case for using a uniform NR. Computer and video game stubs

[edit]

I just read a discussion you started in WP:WSS/P about computer and video game stubs. You talked about the rubenesque size of the stub category. I must therefore apologize for moving stubs from corp-stub to cvg-stub and adding to the mess. On WP:WSS/P I proposed a new category: cvg-corp-stub, for the game developers. Any views on this? Re: Captain Blood stub type

[edit]

It might be better to describe Captain Blood as an adventure game rather than an action game, since most of the gameplay consists of having conversations. (Haven't been on here long so not sure if this is the right place to mention it, or if it's too minor an issue to be worth discussing) -- Arganoid 20:56, 3 October 2005 (GMT)

Nintendo 64 games

[edit]

Hi, nice work on all the new Gamecube game articles! I myself have been creating articles for Nintendo 64 games but am having trouble finding information for Japan only games, any suggestions? Thanks. --Timkovski 13:39, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

-Thanks for the link, the site looks good, I'll get to work later! I noticed that IGN has profiles on some of the more notable imports, so you could check there and maybe you'll get lucky. --Timkovski 15:32, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

-I've found an absolutely incredible site, it gives basic info on every game I've tried so far, as well as the games name in kanji which can be googled. http://vgrebirth.org/ --Timkovski 11:55, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GT Cube

[edit]

Hi, I've proposed that GT Cube be merged into the GT Pro Series article, and so far the discussion is only between me and one other editor (with a differing viewpoint, so currently with no chance of consensus). I noticed you created the page originally, so your opinion would be appreciated to help possibly reach a consensus. The discussion is at Talk:GT Cube. Infobox maker

[edit]

I think there are a few small bugs in the infobox maker. I entered some experimental input and this is what I got. The release date region seems to be closing the wikilink tag twice and I don't think the OFLC link is meant to be like that. I've added a link to the generator in the External links section of WP:CVG, for some reason it wasn't there before. Cheers, JACOPLANE • 2007-01-5 21:30

I just remembered that the whole thing is just JavaScript. I'll see if I can find what's wrong myself. Not so strong with JS though. JACOPLANE • 2007-01-5 22:33

This line should be changed:

 ratings += '[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office of Film and Literature Classification (Australia)|OFLC]]: ' + x.oflc.value
to:
 ratings += '[[Office of Film and Literature Classification (Australia)|OFLC]]: ' + x.oflc.value

Also, I think this is the problem with the extra tags:

if (x.loc1.value == 'United States')
{ release += 'North America|NA' }
else if (x.loc1.value == 'Europe')
{ release += 'Europe|EUR]])' }
else if (x.loc1.value == 'Japan')
{ release += 'Japan|JPN]])' }
else if (x.loc1.value == 'Australia')
{ release += ' (AUS)' }

The North America if doesn't have the "]]" while the other ones do. JACOPLANE • 2007-01-5 22:39

Cool, thanks for updating! You should have a look at this discussion, X201 was talking about some new accepted standards (I'm not sure, haven't been following the discussion about that). Take care, JACOPLANE • 2007-01-6 23:10

Stars!

'llo :) User:Tzaquiel dumped a gamecleanup template on the Stars! game page and we(those who usually edit the page) are not terribly experienced wikipedians, and Tzaquiel hasn't responded to requests for what he thinks is wrong with it. Any help you can provide in this regards would be appreciated. Why you? Because WP:CVG/GL suggests critical reviews and according to WP:CVG/M you have a copy of the March 1996 PC Gamer, which contains a review of Stars!. Would you mind digging it out and seeing if there's anything worth adding to the Star! article please? Thanx in advance Gible Fog 09:56, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Boxart bionicle-heroes gba.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Boxart bionicle-heroes gba.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Thanks for uploading Image:Cabela's Outdoor Adventures 2006 GameCube Cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. AfD nomination of Big Mutha Truckers

[edit]

I've nominated Big Mutha Truckers, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Big Mutha Truckers satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Big Mutha Truckers and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Big Mutha Truckers during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. — N96 02:10, 23 June 2007 (UTC) 02:10, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline of web browsers picture

[edit]

Hi, I was reading the browser war article and wanted to take a closer look at that picture you made, "Timeline of web browsers", but it's in .svg format. What program do you need to open that file with? Thanks, Jack Daw 14:17, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Opera web browser does a perfect job rendering the file. It's probably the smallest download for your computer that will allow you to be able to view the file. The Adobe SVG Viewer (plugin) for IE (and other browsers) also works. Firefox can render that SVG file, but isn't as good at rendering really complicated SVG images. Inkscape is like the Photoshop for SVG, but that'll eat away more than 100 MB on your hard drive, I believe. If you don't want to download a program to be able to view the SVG image, you can just look at [1], which was made by speaker219 on digg. -Ice Ardor 19:35, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi, I look at this picture, and find out, that there is no Nokia OSS browser (WebKit based), NetFront (Own engine, WIndows/Linux/BREW) and NetPositive (own engine, BeOS) browsers. Do you need help to add this browsers to the picture? (Ben Aceler, aceler()gmail.com) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.208.95.123 (talk) 10:53, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline of Opera releases

[edit]
Wikipedia should say "You've got new messages" when someone responds to a comment you make. I guess I'll post my responses in this thread on your page then. Oh well. I got your message on my.opera.com. Thanks. I've added you to my friends list. As far as rendering speed on the svg file, I'm amazed at how quickly it can run the javascript functions to resize the image. I'd think that would have seriously slowed down the file, but it's only one or two hundred milliseconds slower. Then again, Opera Kestrel has blazing fast javascript speeds. Image:BlowOutCover.jpg

[edit]

I have tagged Image:BlowOutCover.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Armed and Dangerous box cover.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Armed and Dangerous box cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:43, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:AgentHugoCover.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:AgentHugoCover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 02:42, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
