Arcade Game list not complete
[edit]The list of games (the one that is not in the table) lacks of the Arcade Games Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.228.104.210 (talk) 07:49, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

[edit]I'm deleting the "Vampire Savior/Darkstalkers IV" section because it's nothing but pure speculation at this point. --72.196.196.198 (talk) 10:21, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Vampire/Night Warriors/Darkstalkers Canon
[edit]The true Vampire/Dalkstalkers/Night Warriors canon.(LonerXL (talk) 23:52, 21 August 2009 (UTC))
- Darkstalkers/The Night Warriors/Vampire (1994)
- Darkstalkers 2/Darkstalkers' Revenge/Vampire Hunter (1995)
- Darkstalkers 3/Vampire Savior (1998)
remains so to this day
[edit]I'm removing this because it sounds like POV and it isn't really true if you consider the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fighting games. --Feitclub 03:40, Apr 7, 2005 (UTC)
The OVA anime
[edit]Who wasn't in the OVA series? A lot of characters appeared just to fight Pyron (and lose) but this article suggests someone was missing. Who? Rikuo maybe? --Feitclub 04:00, Apr 7, 2005 (UTC)
- As I recall, Jedah, B.B.Hood, Lilith and Q-Bee (the newest characters) were not in the OVA. Otherwise, everyone else was a story character or tossed into that scene near the end with Pyron going on a rampage; I'm sure I saw Rikuo in there. -- VederJuda 20:00, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
If nothing else, Rikuo is in the intro.
- I remember he appeared briefly in one scene losing a fight to Pyron... Vicco Lizcano 16:40, 14 February 2007 (UTC) (Tell me where I'm wrong)
Jedah, B.B. Hood, Lilith, and Q-Bee were not in the OVA because it was set in the second game's timeline. They weren't in the series til the third game. Rikuo appeared in an intro fighting Bishamon and was last seen being beaten by Pyron. I felt it was rather unfair he, Anakaris, Sasquatch, and Victor got beaten so easily by him because each character has their own strengths and Pyron isn't that hard in the games. - Suffor
Characters with appearances in other series
[edit]It might be useful to elaborate there, state what other games these characters have appeared in. Most are probably just featured in the Marvel Vs. Capcom games, but if they've made other substantial appearances -- like Morrigan as a playable character in the Dreamcast port of GunBird 2 -- they should be mentioned. --alpha5099 1:45, July 2, 2005 (EST)
- B.B.Hodd appears as a playable character in Capcom's Canon Spike, along with Megaman, Cammy and Charlie (From Street Figther).Vicco Lizcano 16:41, 14 February 2007 (UTC) (Tell me where I'm wrong)
- The correct wikilink is: Cannon Spike.Vicco Lizcano 16:18, 16 February 2007 (UTC) (Tell me where I'm wrong)
Demitri
[edit]How is it that Baby Bonnie Hood has her own article but we don't have oen for Demitri Maximov? That seems odd...
Q-Bee
[edit]I can't find any sources to back this up but doesnt the 'Q' in 'Q-Bee' stand for queen? Has anyone else heard that. Also, is "soul bee" what she is known as in Japan because if so then that needs to be clarified?
Categories and Naming
[edit]We need to decide this once and for all: should characters be listed in categories by their first or last names? For example, "Morrigan Aensland" or "Aensland, Morrigan". My suggestion is that for the Darkstalkers characters category, it should be by first name because that's how they're usually refered to in the games. For other categories it should be based on what's done there already; if characters appear in a category where it last name first, then we'll do that. It's really getting annoying seeing people change it back and forth; it's like watching kindergardeners going "Mine!", "No it's mine!". -- VederJuda 18:57, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
- Last name. It's been discussed at the cvg wikipedia project.--Dangerous-Boy 20:04, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
Does anyone know if this is correct?
[edit]I play a table top RPG called World of Darkness (WoD) by White-Wolf. My GM is one of the few players who started playing it when it first came out. You may be wondering why I am telling you this. Well, I remember talking to him about Darkstalkers and he said, and I quote, "Darkstalkers used to be an aproved World of Darkness game." Which I take to mean that Darkstalkers used to be considered a part of the World of Darkness universe, does anyone know if this is true?
what exactly does the word "darkstalker" mean? I didn't see any info on that.
- As far as I know, that's not true... Darkstalkers is completely different from the World of Darkness. However, White Wolf may have mentioned it as an influence in a book somewhere, or made passing reference. That doesn't make it an "Approved Game", especially since who would care that a little company like White Wolf approved a game made by Capcom? White Wolf barely gets any cover space on their own games... --Serow 20:36, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
The World of Darkness and White Wolf logos did once appear on the US flyers for Vampire Saviour which is the sequel to Darkstalkers. See the external links.
External links
[edit]Why should MobyGames not be included? The page has got its own article as well as its own template. The template is frequently used among articles on video games.
- Yes. And in stub articles, I can spy the need for insertion. But WP:EL and other policies dictate that articles that hold suffucent information should have revatively few external links, especially if the site in question posseses less increments of information here. As far as concensus, I do not see it. Many veteran editors such as I remove them on site in regards to the thesis of the article. We are not a link-site. -ZeroTalk 19:47, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I reject some of my previous statement. Most articles shouldn't have many external links at all, that's what editors are for. There should only be an exception when the composition is drawn from said several websites and its listed under references. Somehow, I doubt the claim of this site providing the data for this exhaustive article. -ZeroTalk 19:51, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
- There is information on MobyGames that would not fit into wikipedia but is still both useful and related to the game - take this for example. Neither leaving this out nor integrating it into wikipedia would be a solution imho. Eliashc 19:57, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
- Actually we do have that information. Look at the character articles (Such as Morrigan Ashenland). Its all there. Any other tidbits..? We are not a link haven. Have you read the various wikipedia policies on this yet..? -ZeroTalk 20:12, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
- The whole staff-section is nowhere to be found on wikipedia, why should it even? And yes I've read the policies. And no I don't mean to flood wikipedia with links - although I do admit I tend to, I think it's not the case in this case. Guess you don't see my point in linking to a resource where the whole staff can be found but I don't care enough to keep arguing. Fine with me... Eliashc 20:17, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Confusion???
[edit]I am completely confuse about the darkstalkers 3 Us game, I got it has all 18 characters in it, and was released in 1998.
- Home console versions have all characters, the arcade versions don't (because they've already reached the 48MB limit on the CPS2 board's RAM, Japan-only alternate versions (By the name of Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2) were made to replace certain characters with others that can not fit on the board. Leileilol 07:00, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Moves
[edit]Is it possible to put everyone's moves and their effects on their profiles? 76.170.109.110 05:26, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- It would be more appropriate to provide a moves list as an external link, since this info isn't really encyclopedic. Ham Pastrami 05:36, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
DiC vs Graz
[edit]There have been a couple of edits now where the credit for the American TV series was changed from DiC to Graz. Searching for "darkstalkers" and either of the company names shows that DiC returns a lot more hits, but Graz seems to return hits that are more closely tied to the production (such as personal resumes), though these are not reliable. My gut feeling is that both companies were involved in the production. Someone who has a copy of the show can look up the credits to see what is what, but in any case we need a reliable source to verify. I don't want to keep reverting edits if they are true, but at the same time the credit for DiC currently has more weight and it'd be preferable to settle the matter definitively than compromise by having two unsourced credits. Ham Pastrami 04:02, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Another thought occurred to me. If we can't find any reliable sources for the US cartoon, then perhaps it fails WP:N altogether and should be removed. It's already kind of a stretch that the cartoon is being discussed here rather than being made to stand on its own merit as an article. We could make a Trivia/Spinoff section and move all the merchandising stuff there. I seriously doubt that any non-game material is really significant enough to warrant more than a passing mention. In fact, this is what I'm going to do. If it terribly offends you, revert. Ham Pastrami 01:21, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Well consider this. I saw the show when it was originally on, and I never saw the DiC logo anywhere. I only saw the Graz Entertainment logo followed by the Summit Media logo. I swear that's all I saw. The entire series was released by ADV. You can watch it if you don't believe me, but I know what I saw.
And another thing. Put into perspective, Google isn't a realiable source either. Sure, there may be more hits, but that doesn't account for anything. I know what I saw. Maybe it would be best if the production company just wasn't mentioned at all since there doesn't seem to be any consensus one way or the other.Brittany Ka 10:51, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm confused.
[edit]There's no indication of the platforms and areas where the games were released. --AnY FOUR! (talk) 18:22, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- For the series, it says so in the infobox, right under "Platforms". For individual games, they are listed in the game's summary. Ham Pastrami (talk) 19:25, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Infobox cleanup
[edit]Well, I finally got tired of the overloaded infobox that the article was using. Since it seems like there is some aversion to splitting up the article, I opted to introduce collapsible infoboxes instead, so that each game can at least have its own clean infobox. So far I've only gotten the 3 main games. I may get around to the other titles eventually, but if someone feels like doing it before me, by all means. Ham Pastrami (talk) 19:46, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Proposal - Do a Background Stages section?
[edit]I wouldn't mind doing that. Most articles like for Street fighter has one.

More articles?
[edit]While it is often appropriate to group some things together, this particular article 'contains' a video game series, manga, comic, anime, and American animated series. It's bursting at the seams and ready to explode. Shouldn't at least some of this (the animated versions, for instance) be branched off into separate articles? (Don't look at me! My job is just to gripe and walk away disappointed. <grin>) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.254.86.17 (talk) 05:27, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Why is the "possibility" of a new game relevant information?
[edit]It's just a possibility, and not a very high possibility that we will see a new installment any time soon, or at all. I don't think gossip and off handed mentions by a lone developer should constitute as valuable information. As a long time fan of the series, I have to say that that section will give readers the wrong idea about the prospects of a new entry. Prospects that seem almost certain, but in reality, are not. This leads to cases of misinformation. — Preceding --184.78.0.157 (talk) 05:27, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Link character list
[edit]@Kung Fu Man:, I know the same info exists in both locations, but List of Darkstalkers characters recently survived two AfD's, so I thought it should be more obviously linked somewhere (since navboxes don't show up in mobile), and I do not want the community's time wasted with a third AfD. I was considering removing the character list from this page since it's redundant if the info exists on a separate page, but I didn't know if removing such a large amount of content would be seen as disruptive. Unnamed anon (talk) 16:28, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Unnamed anon: That's a fair point. Honestly I still feel even with the reception brought up the list should be in here, all of that can work into this article just fine and a lot of the backlash was due to the BLAR. I'll put the main link back and approach it again later after I've gotten the reception from the AfD worked in.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:32, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I do also see your point in the 2nd AfD that having the list here does strengthen the article's notability, as it directly shows that Felicia, Morrigan, and to a lesser extent Hsein-Ko and Lilith are often reused in crossovers despite Darkstalkers' dormancy. That's also part of why I kept the list on this page even after linking the list's page. Unnamed anon (talk) 16:49, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
