Plot
[edit]I think the film's plot is described too extensively. Also there're very few technical & artistic details (lost in the film's story) Curero 15:07, 2 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- I happened to see about 80% of this film on TV and in my humble opinion the time could more productively have been spent hacking down the writer, director, actors and production crew with a machete.
- Your humble opinion is very aggresive, but usually the 'humbles' (the mob) are very agressive. It must be hard for you to not understand something - the humble reaction in such a case is to blame the others. "Nothing is new under the sun". Cheers! Curero 11:15, 3 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- Aw, don't mind me. I just had a headache.
We
[edit]Er, who is "we" in "in every negative Cold-War era film cliche we've ever seen slung at the Eastern Block"? Such familiarity is not appropriate. Depending on who "we" refers to, wouldn't "American propaganda" (just for example) be more appropriate? Please revise this or I'll do it. pomegranate 23:39, Sep 8, 2004 (UTC)
- I will do this later this week. Unless someone gets there first. This article needs improvement. Along with all other films that have won the Golden Palm and other major film awards in Europe. NuclearFunk 02:14, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
A few things...
[edit]it says here that she has a "teenaged" son , what evidence of that is there , he looks about 12 to me ,
also , i heared that the whole film was filmed in sweeden or somthing , maybe somthing to go in the trivia section?
and lastly , it says that the poilce EVENTUALY caught her , witch makes it seem that she was 'on the run' for days or weeks , when in fact the poilce got her within a couple of hours of the murder , i think the line should say "she was caught and eventually put on trial" , rather than "eventually she was caught and put on trial"
- Since his age isn't given, "teenaged" is the best shot-in-the-dark answer possible. Also, if memory serves it was filmed in Iceland (Bjork's home country) and not Sweden. I think research into that is a yes. JohnCameron 18:49, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, the dialogue in the film specifically mentions that the son is not yet 13, because that was the age he had to be to have the operation to save his eyesight Lynn25 (talk) 22:57, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Lynn25
- IMDB shows the filming locations. None of which are Iceland:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168629/locations 4 locations in Sweden 2 in USA and one in Denmark
what research did you do which suggests it was filmed in Iceland JohnCameron? brob (talk) 17:11, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Trilogy?!
[edit]This is the second film of a whole trilogy, breaking the waves is the first; Dancer in the dark is the second; BUT here it comes... the third has never been made... read an article by Lars von trier, where he answered a question about the third movie of the trilogy... he said that he didnt wanted to think about it...
The idiots isnt a part of the trilogy, btw, the subtext isnt the same... theres a giant difference between Dancer in the dark and the idiots...
- Please sign with your username! I would like to see this interview that you mention NuclearFunk 21:43, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- The idiots is part of the golden heart trilogy. There might be a greater difference between the films in his trilogies than people are used to, but the golden heart trilogy and Europe trilogy are only thematic trilogies. --Maitch 15:36, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
Disambiguation
[edit]I'm considering writing an article about the David Gerrold shrt story of the same name. Under normal circumstances it might not warrant an article of its own, but I feel it deserves one if only for disambiguation purposes. Or is my logic totally skewed? Lee M 03:57, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Personnel
[edit]Does anyone really need to know who the runner, unit publicist, still photographer intern, etc is? It seems like overkill and useless information.--Supernumerary 19:37, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. We should remove it. --Maitch 21:18, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- I cut out everyone except those involved in the music and the choreographer. --Supernumerary 05:33, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Bjork - dancer in the dark.jpg
[edit]Image:Bjork - dancer in the dark.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 14:50, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

“greatest films of all time”
[edit]I consider Trier a brilliant artist, though I remain bothered by the last sentence in the lead section. I edited it a little while ago, but the sentence was reverted.
There are numerous films that got a few votes in the Sight & Sound polls, and it need not be said of each work that did that some consider it one of the greatest films of all time. This is misleading. AndrewOne (talk) 10:21, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
