Gates knowledge of Hudson's homosexuality
[edit]I removed "In 2013 the transcript of one of the recordings was published. It showed that, contrary to her later public statements,[1] Gates was aware of Hudson's homosexuality while married to him.[2]"
First, the "transcripts" mentioned are not identified previously leading to confusion about which transcripts are being referenced.
Second, the "transcripts" are from Fred Otash's "private files." No actual tape of any of Otash's "transcripts" has ever been released to the best of my knowledge and only the paper transcripts are written about in the referenced articles. Otash was a one-time police officer, who was twice accused of neglect of duty and general unfitness (the first time he was suspended for participating in illegal gambling while in uniform and the second he resigned and became a private detective before the case went to trial http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/multimedia/video/2008/wallace/otash_fred_t.html). Although he called himself a "private detective," he was better known as "a freelancer and 'fact verifier' for notorious L.A. celebrity tattle magazine Confidential." The Confidential had several cases of libel brought against it- one resulting in a hung jury and many accusers were paid before they went to court against the magazine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confidential_(magazine)#Decline Additionally, Otash himself admitted the Confidential was "junk" on numerous occasions. http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/multimedia/video/2008/wallace/otash_fred_t.html
Considering another of Otash's recently released "transcripts" reports Marilyn Monroe died because she was suffocated by a Kennedy, and the autopsy and other crime scene evidence shows she died from two conflicting sleep medications being in her system, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2338425/Marilyn-Monroe-death-Confession-inside-diary-Hollywoods-famous-private-detective-Fred-Otash.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marilyn_Monroe#Deathhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marilyn_Monroe#Death, and considering the fact Otash stated, "I'll work for anybody but communists. I'll do anything short of murder." https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/rock-hudsons-wife-secretly-recorded-562508, Otash can hardly be a reliable source without actual tapes to back up his "transcripts."
Third, Otash was paid at least $25,000 per year (about $210,000 today) by the Confidentials "investigation" arm and possibly 4 times as much to confirm any rumor they sent him. There is also circumstantial evidence that Otash was not only the person verifying news but also the source of some of the news. http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/multimedia/video/2008/wallace/otash_fred_t.html As written the statement I deleted implied that there was an actual tape of Gates recorded prior to her divorce in which she confronted him about his homosexuality. If this is the case, the tape needs to be referenced and not a "transcript" of the tape especially since the source of the "transcript" was paid to produce it.
Finally, the Hollywood Reporter provides only one page of the transcript for examination at the referenced website, and half of that page is blacked out. The "newly released transcript" that is shown as well as information found in it, is identical to one in Otash's book, Investigation Hollywood, except in the book the participants are named "STAR" and "WIFE" and therefore could not be used as a source since to the best of my knowledge these people are not identified by name in the book. The published, reveal-all book as a source of the transcripts is not mentioned by Hollywood Reporter. Presenting previously published information as new is plagiarism and source material that was plagiarized is unacceptable.
It is already established that one solid source believes Gates knew about his homosexuality during the marriage, and so the information in this sentence is not only poorly referenced but also unnecessary. 2602:306:341B:D6F0:B2:5EE2:341F:77C5 (talk) 12:29, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Political Views
[edit]Was Rock Hudson necessarily registered to any party? I think he was mostly a centrist and hated politics, but I know he at least supported Barry Goldwater, which makes me think he leaned towards Republican. Prokrabsgod2 (talk) 22:59, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
