GAC failure

[edit]

I'm sorry, but as per WP:WIAGA, a number of issues keep this article from being a Good Article. There are tons of WP:MOS problems. For example, only the first word and proper nouns should be capitalized; there should be no space between punctuation and a superscript citation; small numbers (i.e. three, four, ten) should be spelled out; contractions should never be used except in quotations. In addition, there are many abbreviations that are not spelled out- someone who doesn't follow hockey will have no idea what "G.A.A." or "OHL" (or perhaps even "NHL") stands for. There are also many one-sentence paragraphs and very short subsections, which does not conform to the "compelling prose" part of criterion 1(a). Some of the sections are very poorly written; "Recent career", "Style of Play", "Off the Ice", and "International Play" all need thorough copyedits. They contain run-on sentences, are missing commas, and generally have sentences that could be scrapped completely. One of the biggest factors in a GA candidacy (or FA candidacy) is referencing, and while this article is generally good, a few statements must be cited. Finally, while this is a less important GA criterion, the article contains zero images; a free use image of Tugnutt should be available, and if there are absolutely none, a fair use image would not be hard to find.
Feel free to resubmit this article to WP:GAC when these problems are resolved. Happy editing. -- Kicking222 21:57, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I completely forgot to mention that this article does not conform to WP:NPOV, as it has many point-of-view problems. To wit: "This was controversially, one of the worst trades Ottawa ever made." (the paragraph this sentence came from is, overall, terrible); "Tugnutt was considered their backbone. He was playing the greatest hockey of his career and was the reason the offensively challenged club had such a successful season."; "Tugnutt, who is known around the league as one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet" (this is the most unencyclopedic phrase in the entire article); "Tugnutt stopped 70 of 73 shots to earn his hapless Nordiques" (hapless?); "Tugnutt has become a much more position goaltender, standing tall in his crease and always ready to make the save." (what goalie is not ready to make a save?); "After a disappointing 4 game sweep in the NHL playoffs, Tugnutt was more then excited to play for Team Canada"; etc. -- Kicking222 22:01, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe a little late, but I'd like to apologize if I wasted anyone's time. I'm the one who listed this as a good article candidate. Ron Tugnutt is a player I've always admired, and when I looked him up on here, I was expecting a stub. I was pleasantly surprised to find a quite extensive article, and I got a little over-excited. I see now that the article needs quite a bit of work, which I will try to take care of in the near future. --Bongwarrior 20:56, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Retirement?

[edit]

Tugnutt is now with HNIC, and thinking of becoming a goaltender coach. Is Tugnutt retired? If so when and should be added to the article. GoodDay 21:22, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edits

[edit]

I just made some brief edits to the Honors section. All edits come from information obtained from the Ron Tugnutt biography at The Goaltender Home Page. 1) It was previously noted that Tugnutt holds the record for most shots in a regular season game but from what I was able to gather, he has the second most saves in a regular season game and holds the record for most saves in a regular season game non-loss. I just made changs to reflect this. 2)I noted that he holds the Anaheim Mighty Duck record for most saves in a regular season game and expanded the entry for his record for most wins on an expansion team. 3) Added link to Tugnutt's bio at The Goaltender Home Page and at Legends of Hockey. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 154.20.203.1 (talk) 15:06, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
