Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Brockert

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

final (17/0/0) ending 04:47 16 December 2004 (UTC)

I do largely trivial edits. Copyediting, fixing links to disambiguation pages, and small blocks of new text in articles that I feel I have something to contribute to. I used to be very active in VfD, which I may take up again.

I'd like to be an admin just because it makes some parts of using the wikipedia easier. I check my watchlist every day, and some pages on it often need to be reverted, such as Wikipedia:How to edit a page. Helping with Speedy and VfD is easier with admin. I don't want to ban people; I plan to continue spending my time on improving articles, rather than nannying other editors.

I made my first logged-in edit on April 6, 2004, and my 2000th edit on November 20, 2004; I'm at ~2340 now.

I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone has. --Ben Brockert 04:47, Dec 9, 2004 (UTC)

  11. Support. I think his comments on Talk:Felching show admin-level sense of taste and restraint. I like to see editors take on "hobby tasks" (Sinead O'connor, etc.) that nobody else is doing and I think this user satisfies most of my standards for admins. Pedant 22:08, 2004 Dec 10 (UTC)

  16. Support. Ben and I had a misunderstanding some time ago, but I'm not basing my vote on that at all. He's a fine contributor who's willing to tackle the craziness of certain aspects of this site. Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. Reverting pages, watching speedy and VfD.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I latch on to a concept and continue with it until it is completed. I did a lot of work on Wikipedia:WikiProject Wiki Syntax, and I enjoy tasks like those because they scale well; I can spend as little or as much time as I want. Yesterday I changed 61 "Sinead O'Connor"s to "Sinéad O'Connor"s.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and will deal with it in the future?
A. Over editing, nothing serious. I have had dialogues with other users that I didn't enjoy, but I don't think there is anyone out there holding a grudge againts me, and I'm not holding a grudge against anyone.
